Teddy Ruxpin and David the Gnome Are The Bestest of Friends
In the spirit of the Diamond Dolls, The Chipmunks and The Chippettes have really brought me back to the good ol' 80s/90s when tv shows and cartoons were more than just the vapid, 3D animated cartoons we see now (no offense to Dora). Surfin youtube and retrojunk, I realized three things:
1- When I was little, I had a lot of favorite tv shows.
2- So this is why I'm the spazzmatazz I am today.
and 3- Good lord, I still know the words to each of these intros. The very first time I entered the title into the search box, selected the appropriate video, and pressed play, I found myself singing along flawlessly to the words of the song. I was like the bouncing Mickey Mouse head on those Disney Sing-Along tapes. Frankly, this kinda freaked me out, but after the second or third play of the clip, I was on a natural high of 80s flashback.
Those were the days where my sisters and I sat in front of the tv wearing flourescent pink biker shorts, Little Mermaid t-shirts (in Kelly's case, a dress with a pattern of cows wearing multi-colored ribbons) and sporting some mega scrunchie action. Hell yeah, we knew how to roll. Actually, I gotta give credit where credit's due and hollah props to my mom who dressed us in our kickass denim jeans with rockin t's, and of course the neon flair.
All in all, I love reminiscing of those times when threats of being put in The Thinking Chair was the only thing that could rip my sisters and I away from episodes of Denver the Last Dinosaur or Small Wonder. Oh, and don't get me wrong, we were very active kids, always dancin and prancin around, playing sports, and reading constantly. I mean, who could forget reading Amelia Bedelia or Encyclopedia Brown. So, for your viewing pleasure, I gathered a few (or several) of some of my faves:
Denver the Last Dinosaur...he's my friend and so much more do doo:
Zoobilee Zoo...where wonders and magic are waiting for you:
Adventures in Wonderland...use your imagination and you'll understand:
Alvin and the Chipmunks...do doo do do do do:
David the Gnome...trolls and creatures and fairy kings, birds that talk and fish that sing:
Muppet Babies...we make our dreams come true, we'll do the same for you:
The Adventures of the Gummi Bears...marching along as their song fills the air:
Duck Tales...dddd-danger, watch behind you:
Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers...no case too big, no case too small:
Under the Umbrella Tree...do you ever wonder what could happen under an umbrella tree:
Gullah Gullah Island...let's go play together under the bright sunny weather:
and last but certainly not least, Salute Your Shorts...it makes me wanna fart:
Weeeeeeee. Good night!

i did not watch gullah gullah island. that show was crap. anddd i'm preeetttty sure i'm the only one that really spent some serious time in The Thinking Chair. it was also my brilliant idea to put cool stuff to play with in the back pocket of that chair.... so i had stuff to play with while i "thought." duh.
